"you are not alone"

This short, 10 minute, video provides clear and basic information about what happens when a person is victimized. It is an excellent tool, which can be used to help people with intellectual disabilities understand what it means to be a victim and what might happen to them when they tell someone about their experience.

The overriding message that flows throughout the video is that the victim is not alone and it is crucial that he/she tells someone about what happened.

Using a series of photographs and accompanying narration, the video focuses on the victim:

•  in her home talking to a support worker

•  talking to the police

•  being introduced to a victim service worker

•  talking with a crown attorney

•  testifying in court.

The narrator also refers to Manitoba 's Victims' Bill of Rights and explains what a Victim Impact Statement is and how it is prepared.
