Registered Disabilty Savings Plan

Registered Disability Savings Plan The Registered Disability Savings Plan (RDSP) is a new way to assist persons living with a disability saving for the future. The New Registered Disability Savings Plan - Deadline for 2008 Grant and Bond extended to March 2nd, 2009! The federal government has extended the deadline to make 2008 RDSP contributions until March 2nd, 2009. The RDSP is a new tool to assist in planning for the long-term financial security of people with disabilities. People with disabilities along with their families and friends can all make contributions. The federal government will contribute as much as $4,500 per year to a total of $90,000 to people's RDSPs. The BC, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Ontario, Newfoundland, Nova Scotia, Yukon, and Northwest Territories Governments have all fully exempted the RDSP for the purposes of Disability Assistance. That means people can have an RDSP and use funds from it without affecting their Disability Assistance income or benefits. To find out how the RDSP works, how to set one up, which financial institutions are offering the plan and to access resources like our RDSP Bulletin, our free RDSP Telephone Seminars, and the RDSP Calculator, visit www.rdsp.com. We are pleased to share the newly developed RDSP Brochures and DVD that assists people to understand the RDSP opportunity. We have chosen a question and answer format for the brochure. The brochure looks at 38 of the most common questions about RDSP. Please distribute to individuals and families who would benefit. The DVD is a 13 minute explanation of the RDSP procedures and benefits. We recommend this for parent meetings, staff meetings and other public events that you host. These products were produced by an RDSP Coalition in Manitoba with the financial assistance of the Provincial Government of Manitoba (Family Services & Housing).
